This Ann Arbor Hills family sought a relaxed yet sophisticated kitchen design that respected the original 1950’s mid-century ranch aesthetic. They opted to keep the galley-style layout for its efficiency and relationship to adjacent dining and mudroom spaces.
Durability was paramount for the family of avid cooks, all four of whom prepare meals throughout the day. FSC certified rift-sawn, white oak custom cabinets complement solid surface countertops and a porcelain tile backsplash. Their existing wood floors were refinished to their natural state, and sealed with a water-based matte finish that protects from spills and scores.
“Architecture is the stage on which we live our lives.”
