This complete new build is a tour de force of elevated design and creative connectivity. Developed as four wings wrapped around a central courtyard and fitted with floor to ceiling glass in the common and transitional areas, the space is physically separate, but continues feeling visually connected.
The low-slung form and reserved palette help the house better blend in with the carefully curated surrounding natural landscape - intended to create a feeling that the home is both deeply rooted in and delicately hovering over the site. Taking that intention further, we balance two main wings across a naturally occurring ravine that, with landscaping, creates the feeling of a creek bed under the central elevated wings.
Secondary structures create an enclosed bridge between the kitchen and living room, with a suspended deck running through the living room and primary suite, to create shortcuts within the larger circulation paths of the main wings.
"Buildings, too, are children of the Earth and Sun."
