This Japanese inspired addition stitches together the interior and exterior spaces of new and old. The front entrance embraces subtle design elements that gracefully transform the once separated kitchen and living space with the serenity and warmth of the outdoors. The existing wooden screen was reused for privacy and the new windows in the home’s common spaces perfectly frame the garden. Cypress is used throughout the home, similar to the traditional Japanese temples built from cypress wood.
